Longton Podiatry Clinic has been established for over 30 years, proudly sitting above Facers Pharmacy in Longton.
Podiatrist Drew Ewing, 55, who lives in Walmer Bridge, has been steadily building the opening hours up to, 8.20am- 5pm, Monday to Friday. Due to the increase in patients, Clare Black has also joined the team. The clinic now runs on an appointment–only basis. Clare, who has worked in healthcare for 20 years and is a fully qualified podiatrist, has over 11 years’ experience within the NHS and private practices. She joined the clinic in November 2021 and now runs sessions on a Thursday and Friday.
Drew and Clare both have degrees in podiatry and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). They are members of The Royal College of Podiatry, their governing body, and are both fully insured. “Our mission is to provide patients with personalised, high-quality foot care in a more luxurious surrounding with state-of-the-art equipment,” says Drew.
Last year they invested in the latest technology for verruca removal called Swift, which uses a probe and microwaves to eradicate long–standing verrucas in as little as two to four treatments. Swift is proving very popular, and with an 80% success rate, is the best treatment for verrucas on the market. “The great thing about it,” says Clare, “is that there are no messy creams, acids or returning to the clinic on a weekly basis.”
Changes made to the décor in the clinic proved a talking point – patients have commented on how lovely and relaxing it is when they enter. Drew and Clare’s qualifications allow them to offer services that range from simple nail care, verrucae treatments, removal of hard skin and corns to orthotics, diabetic wound dressing and diabetic annual checks. They also sell foot creams, orthotic insoles, gel toe supports and dividers which can be custom-made.
Clients, who travel from Clitheroe, Southport and beyond, have said that on finishing treatments they feel like they “are walking on air.”
