Being a funeral director is more than a job for Martin Wootton and his team – it is a way of life. “It is a privilege to take care of people at a very difficult time,” he says. The next few months will see changes at Martin’s who are busier than they have ever been over the last 14 years, conducting many funerals in Preston and the wider area. To cope with this increasing demand, Martin will be opening a third funeral home at premises on Garstang Road, Fulwood.
All funeral services are attended by Martin or a qualified funeral director member of his team, to give families the best possible service and ensure all arrangements are to the family’s requirements. He says: “There is something deeply satisfying about being able to help and have everything in place for our families.” When arranging funerals, their ethos is to listen, advise and let people choose what is best for them and their loved one. He added: “We make each funeral personal. From choice of coffin to the deceased’s final resting place, we help on all aspects.” Martin has been a funeral director for 43 years and has a reputation for high standards and attention to detail. Martin adds: “Our team have a vast knowledge of funerals and all hold various qualifications and are members of the National Association of Funeral Directors and The British Institute of Embalmers along with many other organisations.” “We offer many services to families that other funeral directors cannot or do not, such as covered seating at burial services or our large private function room in our Ashton funeral home that can be used before funerals for meeting or for a reception after a funeral. It can host up to 70 people. “We can also hold funeral services in our funeral homes if people do not want a church service.” Martin constantly looks to make things as easy as possible for families including pre-arranged funeral plans which work alongside Golden Charter. Phones are answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by the trained and helpful team.
