When it comes to quality metal fabrications with a personal touch, few businesses can match Lostock Hall based A&N Davies Fabrication Ltd. Run by friendly owners Adrian and Nic Davies, the husband-and-wife team are joined by skilled fabricators Mathew (left) and Bobby (right) at their Lostock Hall workshop.
Adrian Davies, 58, has more than 30 years of experience in engineering and fabrication after originally starting his career at BAE as an aircraft engineer. Working alongside him is wife and co-owner Nic Davies, 52, who joined the business in 2019.
Nic, a former Priory High School student, brings a strong background in administration, business coaching and mentoring. She handles the finance, marketing, logistics and operations side of the company to ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
Things have been going so well recently that the business moved into a much larger premises in Lostock Hall as demand for their services continues to grow. Adrian still enjoys being hands-on with fabrication and fitting work, while also carrying out site visits and free quotations.
“Quality takes time,” says Adrian. “We never pressure people into making decisions and always want customers to feel comfortable and informed throughout the process.”
The company specialises in bespoke wrought iron gates, railings, balconies and general metalwork, all tailored to suit the style and character of each property. They also supply composite board gates and fence panels, which provide a virtually maintenance-free alternative to traditional timber and are available in a wide variety of colours and finishes.
Structural steel work is another major part of the business, supplying for extensions, alterations and doorway openings. Gate automation is also becoming increasingly popular among customers looking for additional convenience and security.
A&N Davies Fabrications Ltd work across both domestic and commercial sectors, carrying out projects for schools, farms, industrial estates, local businesses and Preston City Council.
St Catherine’s Hospice is also one of their long-standing regular clients. While they have completed work as far north as Scotland and as far south as Gillingham, Nic says local customers remain at the heart of the business.
Much of their work comes through repeat custom and recommendations. “We recently had a customer move house to Barrow and asked us to travel there to carry out more work for them,” says Nic. “That means a lot to us.”
