Bond Bespoke Joinery

Perfectionist joiner Chris Bond can transform your staircase or carry out any bespoke work around your home.

Chris has more than 23 years’ experience in his trade and set up his own business in 2008.  With his own workshop, he began bespoke manufacturing, including timber-frame buildings, carports and cabinetry such as built-in wardrobes, alcove units and more.  Then he found his niche. “A customer asked me to design a staircase renovation for him,” he says. “I did it and absolutely loved it but after that I became aware that big national companies did the same job for eye-watering prices.  I decided I could offer an exact service for a much better price, making such a luxury available to people who thought it was beyond their budget.”

Chris keeps the main staircase structure, removing elements such as newel posts, hand-rails and spindles and replacing them with beautiful solid wood parts such as oak, ash, walnut or other hardwoods.  He also replaces old spindles with sleek glass balusters or even wrought iron ones. Renovating is less disruptive and cheaper than replacing the entire staircase, which is usable during the work, and it is often completed in as little as three days.

The look is the client’s choice – modern or traditional – using locally sourced European oak, American black walnut or a stunning African hardwood such as zebrano.  Chris adds: “I am courteous and friendly. I have excellent relationships with my customers, some of whom I’ve been doing repeat work for since I started on my own. “My aim is always to surpass people’s expectations and build long-lasting working relationships. “For more examples of my work, just key in bondbespokestaircases on Instagram”

A fresh new look for your staircase, making it a showpiece in your home, need not cost the earth. Chris renovated a staircase in Longton, saving more than 50 per cent on what a national company quoted. Linda Bleasdale, of Formby Crescent, Longton, was delighted.  “Chris is very courteous, very tidy and a perfectionist if something isn’t quite right.  We can’t rate him highly enough.” Chris adds: “With companies like Neville Johnson, you’re dealing with a salesman but with Bond Bespoke Staircases you’re dealing only with the craftsman making your staircase – me”.
