Broughton Dental Surgery

Got an abcess and worried about losing the tooth?  Or simply anxious about visiting the dentist?  Let David Wiper work his magic.

Now at his busy Broughton surgery for seven years, he’s an expert in saving teeth and his high-tech wand means an almost-pain-free injection and makes a visit to Broughton Dental Surgery anxiety-free.  ”Our equipment enables us to work as best we can, rather than as quickly as we can,” he says.  “We spend time with people explaining and discussing what we do and we can show you a lot of pictures of your teeth.”

You can watch what is happening on screen from the dentist’s chair as David uses his Carl Zeiss operating microscope.  This magnification – up to 20 times – allows very precise work, avoiding unnecessary damage to teeth and enables difficult root canal work on teeth which may otherwise have to be extracted.

He gets referrals from dentists as far away as Cumbria where patients want to avoid extraction – one patient even travelled up from Bath!  David also offers standard dentistry, including tooth-coloured fillings, changing unsightly old crowns where a grey margin has been revealed, and tooth whitening. He also employs a hygienist two days a week.  David, who grew up in Preston, set up private practice seven years ago at the old Lathams shop after his father Ian, for whom he had worked in Penwortham, retired.

He qualified at Manchester University in 2007 and gained a Masters in root canal treatments at UCLAN.  His stylish modern surgery welcomes patients from as far as Clitheroe and Lancaster.  Many new people come after recommendations from friends.  His Wand is one reason people come, giving computer controlled delivery of anaesthetic through a very short and fine needle, held like a pen  almost un-noticeable; and ideal for children and nervous patients and no numb lips or gums.
