Worried about a patch of damp over a window or a door? Speak to friendly Carl Weyer and he’ll diagnose your problem.
A strong possibility is a damaged lintel – and Carl is a lintels specialist. “If a lintel has been put in without a damp tray, it will rust and swell, causing cracks in brickwork and forcing your wall upwards,” he says. “The only answer is a new lintel – I put in a damp tray and replace the insulation so there are no cold spots.” Cheerful Carl finds when he does a job, neighbours see his work and recruit him – he’s done repeated projects in all areas of Preston. “I take pride in my work and like to do the job right, not cutting corners and using the right materials. “Before you know it, you’re asked back to another job.”
Carl, 50, branched out on his own in the last recession when there was no work – and has never looked back, He trained as a bricklayer at Preston College and has spent all his life in the trade. He will do anything including smaller jobs “I will do any size of job – I’m happy doing one day’s work,” says Carl.
Carl also does flagging and drives, a speciality, plus brickwork repairs, garden walls, fencing, pointing; as well as general building work.
