After years of working for national retailers and independent kitchen companies, the man behind Carman Hill Kitchens and Bedrooms decided customers deserved something better – quality kitchens, competitive prices and a service that felt personal from start to finish.
Based in Morecambe, Graham Dodgson (below) launched the business in October 2024 after spending many years with Wickes, where he worked his way from the shop floor to store manager before retraining as a kitchen and bathroom designer.
While the larger companies often treated customers like numbers, he felt smaller firms could sometimes lack affordability. Carman Hill Kitchens and Bedrooms was created to offer the best of both worlds – quality products, honest pricing and friendly one-to-one service.
Working independently allows him to keep overheads low and prices competitive. He designs and supplies full replacement kitchens, replacement kitchen doors, fitted bedrooms, sliding wardrobes and home offices, while also organising trusted local trades to complete installations.
His preferred installer, Dan Smith, is based in Penwortham and is well known locally for the quality of his workmanship. Although he has an office and displays in Morecambe, much of his work is carried out across Preston, bringing samples and design software directly into customers’ homes.
Customers can choose from leading appliance brands including Bosch, Neff, Siemens and AEG, alongside popular boiling water taps such as Quooker.
A member of Lancashire County Council’s Safe Trader Scheme, much of the company’s work comes through recommendations.
“People want somebody approachable and honest,” he explains. “There’s no hard sell. I just want customers to enjoy the process and be delighted with the finished result.”
Away from work, family-man Graham runs a karate club with a friend, teaching around 100 students of all ages. Having trained for 22 years and achieved his black belt, patience and discipline have become a big part of both his personal and working life.
