Former Waterstones manager Craig returned to his first love of property maintenance after falling book sales led to redundancy. He’s had a great eight years, with a busy work flow via word-of-mouth and Home Handbook.
Craig, 61, spent 20 years managing bookshops around the region, including Southport and five years at Preston. Prior to that, he had trained in property maintenance with Tom Finney Ltd and Odeon Cinemas – and has enjoyed the return to manual work and greater job flexibility. Craig tackles a wide range of tasks, preferring those smaller jobs many tradesman are reluctant to do, such as minor joinery work which he decorates.
You’ll find him doing anything from painting and decorating, to fitting shelving, skirting, fencing and decking, clearing gutters and garden structure maintenance. He’ll tackle tiling, floor sanding, flat pack furniture, pressure-washing, laminate flooring and will fit kitchen and bedrooms – and a glance round his own house convinces you of his high standards. Craig prides himself on his attention to detail and quality of work. He adds: “I know how important it is to treat customers right, If I say I’m going to ring, I ring, If I say I’ll arrive at a specific time, I’m there. And people have been delighted with every single job I’ve done.”
