David Haworth Design

If you want an extension, loft conversion or alteration to your house, David Haworth and his son Ellis are the first people to turn to – as many have done over the Covid crisis.

Architectural technician David, 64, is now helped by former Broughton High School pupil Ellis, 28. Together they draw up the plans which builders need to give householders a quote – and the last year has been hectic.  David says: “Builders are reluctant to give prices without knowing what they are pricing for. “I give an initial free consultation to say what people can and cannot do, how much it will cost to do the drawings and obtain planning and building regulation approvals.  “We make those submissions on their behalf and get the necessary approvals.  Then people are able to get quotes for the work from builders, using our drawings.”

With more than 40 years’ experience, David is qualified up to HNC level and worked for Blackburn Council and Thwaites brewery until redundancy 28 years ago.  Without practice overheads, David says they offer a competitive price compared to an architect.

Their mainstay is domestic designs but they also do commercial work such as shop extensions and pub refurbishment. Commercial clients include couriers APC Overnight, of Leyland.
