Business continues to be good for garage owner Stephen Flynn – and Garstang’s influx of new home owners has been a big help. “They come to the area and we are recommended by people they meet here. We’ve had a lot of new customers recently,” says Stephen. In just eleven years, Stephen – a friendly and efficient mechanic – has built an enviable reputation, going from being a one-man band to being one of Garstang’s most respected garages. Five years ago, he opened a body shop so he can offer everything that a car, van or mobile home owner could ever need. “We are a one-stop shop,” says Stephen. “No matter what your car needs, whether it’s something simple like a tyre, puncture, battery or exhaust, or more complicated like servicing, an engine re-build, body work or an MOT, we can provide it. “There’s no need to go anywhere else. It’s all in one place – here!” Stephen, 40, aims to offer a friendly straightforward service. “Our prices are reasonable, we’re local, we have high standards, we’re polite and explain to customers what we’re doing to put them at ease.”
Every year, Stephen has invested in the business, buying new machinery such as better ramps or computer equipment to fine-tune diesel engines, giving greater economy and power. He now has nine qualified mechanics, including himself, and one apprentice with three other staff in various roles. Lewis Turner joined the team in June 2023 and is now the team’s EV (Electric Vehicle) Master Technician; whilst newest recruit Robert Millar, joins as their Master Tyre Technician. His smart workshop reveals his high standards. Even the garage floor is spotless and a comfortable waiting room offers free drinks and biscuits.
Since opening in August 2012, Stephen serves domestic and commercial clients. Tradespeople find he is aware of their needs and does all he can to help. The Body Shop
It all began with a customer’s simple request – “I’ve bumped my car, can you help me out?” Now garage owner Stephen Flynn does precisely that for all bumps and scrapes – using Alan Martin, a paint and body expert with over 50 years experience in the industry. Alan joined the team in early 2021 after six years teaching his craft to 50 students per year at Blackpool & The Fylde College, where he also attended as a youngster. Bringing experience with the Lancashire Constabulary and also Mercedes Benz, he has successfully continued the great work of Damien Bradley who helped set up the shop.
