A builder who names his company after his children is a man you know you can trust.
This stone-built six-bedroomed detached home on a rural lane, just south of Garstang, is an example of something builder John Thompson undertook from scratch, with it simply starting out as vacant land – just look at it now!
You won’t be surprised to hear that this isn’t the first house he’s built from the ground up. He has had work come in consistently since 2012, keeping his four staff and other sub-contractors fully occupied. With two sites in Forton, bungalows on Gubberford Lane, Scorton, and two converted barns at Cockerham, John has excellent showcases for his talents to complement his reputation for honesty and quality.
“It’s gone extremely well.” says John, 37, who trained as a bricklayer after leaving Garstang High School. “We let our work speak for itself and a lot comes through recommendation.” He ensures clients know what they’re paying in advance with detailed, fair and accurate quotes. This, plus a friendly and skilled service, has seen him flourish after being made redundant by a Garstang builder in the recession 11 years ago.
John has bricklayers, a joiner, groundworkers, and his own electrician for any electrical jobs. He also uses father-in-law Bill, owner of Bamber Plumbing and Heating, for the plumbing. Projects include extensions, alterations, renovations, barn conversions, new-build, farm buildings, orangeries and more; but he is still interested in smaller projects. “We try not to turn work down,” he says, “Small jobs lead to big jobs – that’s how we started.” Those jobs include driveways, patios, walls, pointing, stonework, drainage, landscaping and fencing.
He also offers a roofing service, doing slating, tiling, re-roofs and repairs. “Our motto is ‘Building confidence with quality” and that’s what we aim to do,” he adds.
John would love you to get in touch to discuss any plans you have for a new or current home and how he may be able to assist.
