Tiler Lee Johnson is a perfectionist – and a mathematician!
Look at a plastered wall he’s tiling and you’ll see a column of pencilled figures – his way of calculating tile and spacer widths so he doesn’t end up with any awkwardly-cut tiles. That’s especially crucial because modern tiles are getting bigger, as this picture shows, going to 1.2 square metres and more. “They look classy and are easier to clean with less grout,” Lee said.
His firm’s name, Precision Tiling, sums up his approach. “We put care and attention into all our jobs and tile them as if it’s our own home,” says the ex-New Longton Rovers footballer. “We take pride in our work and get satisfaction out of finished jobs.”
Former Priory High School pupil Lee, 42, trained as a tiler and went on his own 16 years ago. He also does full bathroom and wetroom installations, working closely with trusted tradesmen.
Work comes via word-of-mouth recommendations, builders and kitchen firms. Lee tiles bathrooms, porches, kitchens, conservatories, hallways – “anywhere with a wall or floor, whether it’s domestic jobs from one square metre to commercial jobs of 100 square metres.”
He can attach any tile, from ceramic to natural stone, and also installs electrical underfloor heating. Lee values his reputation and aims “to get every job right”. See his website gallery of his work.
