More and more people use Preston Council for skip hire – and it’s hard to find anywhere cheaper.
The man in charge of our bins, Duncan Coward, Head of Waste Management, said demand has been so high the council emptied internally-used skips to cope. He added: “It’s a good service, it’s efficient and in the skip world, it’s very cost-effective.”
The council has 90 skips at its Argyll Road depot, delivered and collected by Alan Brewer. Alan, who’s worked with the council for more than 20 years, said: “We’re friendly, reliable, helpful, quick – and the cheapest. If you ring, you usually get a skip next day, or even the same day.”
• Charges are £230 for a builder’s eight-ton skip, £160 for a smaller, four-ton midi-skip, including VAT.
• Prices change annually in April.
• They are used for anything from building waste to house clearances – and the service is Monday to Saturday.
• Skips can be kept for 7 to 10 days. If required longer, this can be arranged.
• The council also offers keenly priced commercial wheelie bin collection and bulky waste collection for items like computers, fridges, TVs or tyres.
