Builder Rod Ashton knows how to transform your property – witness this one-bedroomed bungalow he’s turned into his own magnificent four-bedroomed house in Longton.
Now, as well as building, he’s offering a consultancy service, advising on awkward alterations, including budgets and job specifications. Rod’s perfectionist approach to his work is typified by his spotless vehicle – a rarity for builders! “Our motto is to do everything properly,” he says. “I do to others as I’d expect done to me, and we keep everything clean and tidy.”
Rod covers all building tasks, from roofing and kitchen/bathroom fitting to dormers, renovations and loft conversions. His mainstay is small extensions but he tackles anything from fitting a toilet or shelving to replacing UPVC windows and new-builds.
Working with an architect, he helps with design, planning permission and building regulation approval. He has been in business since 1995 and has completed many kitchens, bathrooms and extensions in this area. An ex-sales manager, he quit to return to his original career in property renovation. He project manages all work himself. Rod adds: “We are a family firm and have a great team of trusted tradesman.
All our work has come from recommendation and I’m in touch with many past customers – some even invite us to dinner after we’ve completed a job!” Rod is a member of the county council’s Safe Trader Scheme.
