You really must visit this delightful Longridge garden centre – the culmination of 11 years’ hard work by owner Michelle Unsworth. She’s expanded its covered areas, allowing sale of many more garden accessories. The new buildings house tools, seeds, trellises, gloves, fertiliser, chemicals, plants, herbs and more. With gifts and cards in the original base, it has something for everyone.
Michelle and her friendly staff are on hand to offer expert advice. Plants are fully suited to local conditions, with many grown on the premises – 80% are from within 15 miles. Twenty years ago, Michelle retrained in horticulture at Myerscough College and after garden centre jobs, realised her dream with So Plants in September 2012. Her friendly expertise has won many appreciative customers, and with an active social media presence, there is always something new to see.
Michelle specialises in unusual hardy plants and perennials. “It is a plant-led garden centre and we try to sell things others do not sell, with strong hardy plants suitable for the locality.”
So Plants sells a huge range of pots, bird-food, gifts, cards, houseplants, herbs and vegetable plants in season as well as climbers, bedding plants and trees. The centre, reflecting Michelle’s knowledge, is a gardener’s delight.
Open seven days a week, 10am to 4pm.
