Family-run businesses are the heart of any community and Taylors Garage is a perfect example. Founded in 1968 by Ronnie Taylor, it was later passed to his son Duncan, and today grandson Adam (above) proudly leads the third-generation family business. Still based on the same site – just a stone’s throw from Dobbies Garden Centre on Blackpool Road, the garage has steadily expanded over the years and now serves families across Preston and Lancashire, often caring for the vehicles of multiple generations.
Adam, a former pupil of Carr Hill High School, went on to study engineering at Oxford Brookes University before building a career as a motorsport chassis engineer on the World Rally Championship circuit, travelling worldwide with his team. After years on the road, he chose to return home and join the family business so he could build a family of his own. “Motorsport was an incredible experience,” Adam explains, “but I wanted to put my skills into something long-term, working with people in my own community, but still doing what I do best!”
Today, Taylors Garage is a DVSA- approved MOT and vehicle service centre offering MOT testing, servicing, tyres, diagnostics, wet belt replacement, brakes and clutches, timing belts, DPF cleaning and precise four-wheel alignment using a new Snap-on laser machine. They are particularly renowned as motorhome specialists, with the space, specialist equipment and expertise to handle larger vehicles properly. Motorhome owners travel from across the UK because few garages can accommodate them to this standard.
With over 100 years’ combined experience between the friendly six-strong team – including receptionist Sarah, who manages bookings and calls – customers can expect honest advice, competitive pricing, online booking and helpful reminder systems.
