Whether you need an eye examination, specialist eyecare, new glasses or contact lenses, independent, family-owned Thompson & Hardwick Optometrists is the place to go. There has been an eyecare offering based at the premises since 1993 which was then taken over by Drew, who boasts more than 20 years’ experience.

Fast forward to now, the business based in the heart of Lytham has built a reputation for quality eye care and innovative eyewear.
Today, the practice offers comprehensive eye examinations, OCT and advanced retinal imaging (see below), emergency eyecare appointments with prescribing ability, contact lenses, corneal care, myopia prevention and management and overnight vision
correction lenses.

Alongside designer and independent eyewear, the practice offers smart eyewear, including AI-enabled glasses, audio eyewear and electronically adjustable sunglasses. Led by Drew and Practice Manager Adrian, the team is dedicated to helping patients see better.

“What I find most satisfying is solving problems and making life better for people, either with great products or resolving or managing eye conditions. I particularly like rehabilitating people’s sight through bespoke lenses after trauma or in eye disease cases. Giving somebody back their sight is quite a good feeling,” says Drew.

He is a MCOptom (member of the college of Optometrists), Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association and independent prescriber. Passionate about his profession and the local area, he runs a hospital clinic at Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he volunteered for the first 12 years.
Free hearing tests can be booked at the practice and additional podiatry services through Drew’s wife, Louise, are available upon request.
