Friendly Billy Bridge has plumbing in his blood. He took over 12 years ago from his father Bill, who started the firm in 1966. Brother Mark is also a plumber.
Billy, 58, does domestic plumbing and is as happy changing a tap washer as installing radiators for a full central heating system. “The smaller jobs lead to bigger things,” he says. He treats each customer’s house as if it was his own, taking his shoes off or using dust sheets. “We tidy up after the job and leave things as we found them – a good job gets you a referral.”
The ex-Penwortham Priory High School pupil offers “anything plumbing-wise”, including repairing leaks, central heating, plumbing for domestic appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers and boiler changes, Billy also installs bathrooms, showers and repairs or replace gutters and downspouts.
A lot of work is via word-of-mouth, builders and other tradesmen and he is in the magazine of All Saints, New Longton. Billy is Gas Safe registered and in the Lancashire County Council Safe Trader scheme.
