Business is brisk for these friendly lawyers – despite the clouds of Covid-19.
They’ve found ingenious as well as standard ways to safeguard clients, including passing documents through care home windows and meeting in gardens! “We’ve been so busy, especially on the residential side,” says solicitor Jackie Wolfenden, who took over the practice from owner Phil Worrall, who has recently retired.
The three-strong property team led by Jackie Wolfenden (front, second from the right) also includes Jessica Whalley and Katie Bretherton who are both experienced conveyancing executives. The triohave stayed true to Phil’s mix of expert advice, approachability, and commitment to local people – 95 per cent of their clients have links to the Longton/Penwortham area and value the personal contact with qualified lawyers. “We are local, professional, and approachable,” says Jackie. “Our office is convenient for clients and has ample car parking.” Phil started the Longton firm in 1997 – and the legal team now advises second generation clients!
Conveyancing is a key aspect of their work, with the team handling residential property – house sales and purchases, remortgages and transfers of ownership. Amanda handles much of the private client work, including wills, probate, trusts, lasting power of attorney, equity release and court of protection work. “We advise on issues arising from longterm care and illness and explain things to people several times if needs be. We ensure they are happy with and understand the procedure.”
Amanda does home and nursing home visits for clients unable to get out. She is developing her expertise by studying for the Society of Trust and Estate Worralls Solicitors
