Billingtons Funeral Directors

Arranging a Funeral can be overwhelming. Alan and Julie Billington, with their hands

on approach and experience aim to take the stress away, ensuring every detail is handled with care, compassion and most importantly dignity for your loved one.

Founded in 1949 by Alan’s father Maurice, the company has always been family owned and run, dedicating 75 years to the profession. “When you call, you get us” Julie explains. “From the first contact we are there to provide the caring, personal support families deserve at such a difficult time”.

Alan and Julie are supported by a small, dedicated team, Bernie helps with administration and reception duties whilst Jeffrey, a fifth-generation family funeral director, supports Alan in the overall running of the day-to-day operation.

Billingtons offer a range of services to remember and celebrate the life of your loved one whilst catering for all budgets. From a simple, unattended local cremation (known as a Direct Cremation), to the variety of a traditional attended burial or cremation. Alan will meet with the family at home or in the office to plan and personalise every aspect of the funeral. They can organise cars, flowers, order of service booklets and help families navigate the unfamiliar, though essential legal aspects of dealing with the loss of a loved one.

Alan feels an important part of his role is recommending a Minister or Celebrant, “ensuring the funeral will be the most appropriate for both your loved one and the family as a whole”. Their on – site Chapel of Rest provides a tranquil space for families to say their last goodbyes.

“Attention to detail is everything” Julie emphasises. “We are here to make sure everything is done just how the family wants it and to be there as a support through what is a difficult time”. Continuing this support, Billingtons will also help families to arrange the interment of ashes and offer a range of glass mementoes, scatter tubes and urns. They supply a beautiful range of memorial jewellery from renowned national firms.

They also offer a full monumental service, helping families with the sometimes difficult task of choosing and arranging a permanent memorial. As Julie says “It’s important that families have our knowledge and support through every step of the process, from the first contact to the lasting memorial commemorating their loved one’s life”.

Billingtons also offer a choice of Funeral Plans through the Golden Charter Funeral Planning Service. Alan will meet with you at home or in the office to offer advice and help you complete the right type of plan for you.
