It sounds too good to be true – have enough waste to fill a skip removed by Martin Green and he’ll charge you less than hiring and filling a skip yourself.
“My wagon carries equivalent to a 12-yard skip which costs on average around £260. I charge £200 per trip and do the labour for you!” says Martin, who aims to bring honesty, reliability and professionalism to the waste disposal world.
On furlough during Covid, Martin, 41, realised he wanted to do more with his life than work at a Redscar gas company. So he ploughed his savings into a cheap wagon – which he’s since upgraded – gained a waste carrier licence and has never looked back despite working seven days a week.
He sets out his stall to be trustworthy. “I think people relate to people who do things correctly. A lot of cowboys are doing this, but you can be sure that we go to the Recycling Lives centre and pay for proper disposal of your waste. Often, I take a video for my customers of me tipping their waste so they know where it goes.”
Martin, who is helped by his son and partner Melissa, aims for a rapid response (same or next day) and removes any domestic or commercial rubbish – garden, building waste, office, trees, single items, house and bereavement clearances after everything else has been taken by the family.
